Wisconsin Brewer's Guild Presents 2013 "Friends of Wisconsin Craft Brewers" Award
February 7, 2013
The Wisconsin Brewer's Guild presented three "Friends of Wisconsin Craft Brewers" awards on February 5 to honor and acknowledge members of the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly who have worked to support the business of craft brewers in Wisconsin. Senator Glenn Grothman (20th Senate District), Representative Janis Ringhand (45th Assembly District), and Representative Janet Bewley (74th Assembly District) were the first recipients of this award.

"These individuals have provided strong and continuous support for craft brewers, our employees, and our rights to distribute and sell our product" said Wisconsin Brewer's Guild President Jeff Hamilton. "We just wanted to show our appreciation and say thank you."

Guild President Jeff Hamilton, Sprecher Brewing, presented the awards. Guild member breweries at the ceremony included: Bull Falls Brewery, Wausau; Fox River Brewing Company, Oshkosh and Appleton; Karben4, Madison; Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee; Northwoods Brewpub, Eau Claire; O'so Brewing Company, Plover; Potosi Brewery, Potosi; Sand Creek Brewing Co., Black River Falls; South Shore Brewery, Ashland; and Vintage Brewing Company, Madison.

"Craft brewing is one of the fastest growing industries in Wisconsin. We're currently striving to strengthen Wisconsin's history as the original ‘Beer State.' Senator Grothman, Representative Bewley, and Representative Ringhand understand how complicated craft brewing is as a business. Brewers concerns range from employment law, to tourism, to agriculture, to distribution of our product. They have always been willing to listen to us and have worked to make sure craft brewing continues to grow in Wisconsin."

The Wisconsin Brewer's Guild is dedicated to the revival of Wisconsin's brewing heritage through the production, marketing and sale of top quality craft beers while maintaining the integrity of individual brewers and their breweries. The Guild is built upon promoting great beer and providing a network between brewers, suppliers, retailers, and of course enthusiasts not only in Wisconsin but worldwide. The Wisconsin Brewer's Guild currently consists of more than 42 breweries, brewpubs and suppliers, as well as almost 400 Wisconsin Beer Lover members statewide.
