Join the Broken Bat Brewing Co. Team Today!

We are actively looking for a Head Brewer to immediately join the Broken Bat team! We have a spacious 215 person taproom that is open 7 days a week with up to 16 tap lines, a separate 225 person private event space upstairs with an additional 8 tap lines, an indoor wiffleball field, and a recently updated 20BBL QTS Brewhouse, purchased brand new in 2021 all under the same roof. We currently produce around 1,250 barrels of beer per year, with a much higher capacity available, and are looking for the right person to get us there.

    Experience and Pay

Previous brewing experience is required – no specific amount of time, but references and/or a product portfolio would be a huge plus, with a minimum starting salary of $52,000; negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Added benefits are negotiable for the right candidate as well. 15 days paid time off as well as Holiday pay are available; PTO days are negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

No more than 40 hours per work week are expected, and your time is absolutely yours once you leave the premise. All of the standard cleaning and safety expectations and SOPs of a brew house apply; must be comfortable carrying and moving items that weigh more than 50 pounds, and upon hire, must obtain a forklift safety certification. While we do have established brands and beers in place, we are also searching for a brewer who is looking to put their mark on the craft beer industry and are actively looking for someone to continue to help shape and mold our product portfolio here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please reach out to Tim – Owner/Operator - via email, tim@brokenbatbrewery.com, with a brief resume and cover letter, I look forward to hearing from you!

We are hiring for TWO positions. A Brewer and an Assistant Brewer!

Brewers and Assistant Brewers are the main cogs in the production machine at Tyranena Brewing Company. Our optimal applicants are both experienced workhorses and ambitious organizers; must love managing a full day of dynamic tasks and be eager to learn more about the craft beer industry. Some craft brewing experience needed… but training in our standard operating procedures and high standards is provided. Leave bad brewing habits at the door!

Neither position is glamorous and, as all brewery work does, requires more cleaning than one ever thought possible... But, in return, the successful candidates will be trained to conquer all brewing and packaging processes performed at our facility.

We're looking for a hardworking individual to become an integral and long-term member of our team.

    PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Brewing Operations. Involved in all aspects of wort production. Follows and assists in SOPs involving milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, and whirlpooling processes. Disposes of brewing by-products. Gathers and precisely weighs hops and malts, and otherwise stages brewing ingredients.
    • Cellar Operations. Involved in racking, filtration, carbonation and yeast propagation.
    • Packaging. Operates packaging equipment, including keg sanitizer/filler, case sealer, lift table and pallet jack. Participates in multiple facets of bottling line operation. Builds and erects chipboard and corrugated packaging.
    • Cleaning, Maintenance & Organization. Performs CIP processes properly. Cleans all brewing and packaging equipment and areas, including (but certainly not limited to) brew house, tanks, kegs, piping, mill room, sinks, man-ways, walls, ceilings, floors, tap lines. Reports low levels of inventory of raw materials, chemicals and miscellaneous hardware and supplies. Maintains organization in the warehouse and brewery. Performs general maintenance tasks.
    • Shipping & Distribution. Manages order fulfillment to distribution customers. Stages pallets and prepares wholesale orders. Applies stretch wrap. Manages excess pallets.
    • Miscellaneous. Other duties as assigned.

    • High School diploma or GED
    • Basic math and writing skills
    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

    • Knowledge of basic brewing operations
    • Positive attitude
    • Forklift certification
    • Ability to follow all company SOP’s and work with little or no supervision once fully trained
    • Punctual, reliable and able to work both independently and within a team
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to multitask
    • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud most of the time. Temperatures vary seasonally in work areas. Brewery personnel regularly handle hazardous materials, encounter hot water, steam and pressurized vessels. They also often come in contact with broken glass and wet floors while working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts. The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials and working with industrial machinery).

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a physically demanding job. Ability to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly and move 165 lbs. Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and work in tight spaces. Ability to manipulate tri-clamps, pull and stack hoses up to 2.5’ diameter and 100 feet long. Tolerate outside summer/winter temperature and inclement weather conditions.
